Report on Gita Jayanti, Bhubaneswar Nagar Sthan
Vivekananda Kendra, Bhubaneswar Nagar, celebrated Gita Jayanti on 11th December, 2024 in the premises of VK-AICYAM, Bhubaneswar. About fifty people participated in the programme. The programme was started with the blowing of conch shell, invocation of 3 Omkar and Bhajan Sandhya at 06.30 p.m. The significance of Gita Jayanti was explained by Karyapadhati Pramukh, Shri Jitendra Kumar Behera, he explained that Gita Jayanti is an auspicious Hindu celebration commemorating the birth of Shreemad Bhagavad Gita. The Saha Nagar Pramukh, Kumari Diptimayee Panda, rendered Geeta chanting on this occasion. Prof. Satya Narayana Mohapatra, (Nagar Sanchalak) as Chief Guest of the evening, explained about Gita Mahatmya, shared his life experiences and emphasized that the teachings of Gita, are considered timeless and are considered key to ending life’s misgivings and life of happiness, satisfaction, fulfilment and self-discovery. Prof. (Dr) Basudev Chhatoi, Convenor VK-AICYAM and toli member of Odisha Prant as Chief Speaker of the occasion, readout the letter sent by Aadaraneeya Nivedita Didi, All India Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari and explained that Geeta Jayanti servers as a significant occasion for reflection, devotion and community engagement, with this sacred text being revered for its profound spiritual wisdom, addressing essential themes such as duty (Dharma), devotion (Bhakti), knowledge (Gnana) and action (Karma). By celebrating this day with sincerity and understanding devotees honour the teachings of Lord Krishna and strive to incorporate this timeless lesson into their daily lives. The programme came to an end with pusparpana at the golden feet of the portrait of Lord Krishna followed by Kendra Prarthana.
